Daily maintenance of MBR membrane bioreactors

Daily maintenance of MBR membrane bioreactors

As an advanced wastewater treatment technology, the daily maintenance and upkeep of MBR membrane bioreactors are crucial for ensuring stable system operation and extending the service life of membrane components. The following are the daily maintenance points for MBR membrane bioreactors:

  1. Cleaning and maintenance of membrane components

Regularly perform physical flushing, including aeration flushing and backwashing.

Aeration flushing utilizes the bubbles generated by the aeration pipeline to flush the surface of the membrane.

Backwashing is the process of backwashing the membrane hole with water or gas-water mixture from the outlet end through backpressure.

Regularly perform chemical cleaning, including maintenance and recovery cleaning.

Low concentration chemical solution is injected into the membrane components for maintenance cleaning to dissolve dirt.

Restorative cleaning requires removing the membrane components and soaking them in acid-base cleaning solution for several hours.

  2. Optimization of operating parameters

Appropriately increase the aeration rate to enhance the aeration washing intensity on the membrane surface.

Control sludge concentration and F/M ratio to slow down membrane fouling rate.

Monitor transmembrane pressure (TMP), and when it exceeds normal 20-30kPa, it indicates severe membrane blockage.

  3. Regular inspection and maintenance

Check the integrity of the membrane components and replace them promptly if any damage is found.

Check the auxiliary equipment such as pipelines and valves to ensure their normal operation.

Regularly clean the aeration head and outlet pipe to prevent blockage.

Through daily physical and chemical cleaning, optimization of operating parameters, and regular inspection and maintenance, the service life of MBR membrane components can be maximized, ensuring the efficient and stable operation of the membrane bioreactor system, and providing reliable guarantees for sewage treatment and reclaimed water reuse.
